Welcome to

Grief Choir

A safe, supportive and uplifting space for people living with grief to sing together.

Grief Choir offers breathing tools and vocal techniques for wellbeing, and gentle, simple songs to sing in harmony with others.

Perhaps you are grieving the loss, death or separation of a loved one. Or perhaps you are grieving a part of yourself.

Grief Choir offers a supportive community for anyone navigating grief.

No experience needed, just the desire to come together and connect through the power of communal singing.

Who we are

Supported by Bristol Beacon, Grief Choir is held by professional singing facilitator Jannah Warlow, who has over 20 years experience leading community singing events, workshops and choirs. Having experienced the healing benefits of singing on her own bereavement journey, she is deeply committed to Grief Choir providing a space of solace and connection through the power of communal singing.

"I can't stop thinking about Grief Choir on Tuesday night. It was absolutely beautiful and I was really moved by it. We walked in as strangers, and as we walked out it felt like we had all connected, something had shifted, and we had all shared something really beautiful. I can't wait till the next one. Thank you so much.""

"I have so valued having a space where I don't have to talk about my grief but there's a knowing between us all and we come together with our voices so powerfully. I've finally been able to really allow myself to grieve."

Grief Choir Bursaries

Grief Choir is committed to being a welcoming and accessible space for all. To help remove barriers to taking part, Grief Choir has partnered with Wild Dandelion CIC via the Scrooge Fund, to offer a number of bursary-funded places.

If you have experienced exclusion or are from a historically marginalised community, you are warmly encouraged to get in touch.  No explanation is needed — you can self-identify, and  therefore bursaries are offered on a first-come, first serve basis. These bursaries are for those from under-represented communities, particularly those that have faced social injustice and inequality - including, but not limited to:

  • Black, Brown and Global Majority people

  • Disabled or neurodivergent people

  • LGBTQIA+ people

  • Trans and non-binary people

  • Refugees and people seeking asylum

  • People from low-income backgrounds

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, but you feel you are not eligible to access the bursary, please do get in touch. There are a limited number of Grief Choir bursaries and someone else may benefit from your bursary place. However we also offer a small number of volunteer exchange places, the terms of which can be agreed on an individual basis. Please reach out if you have any questions at all.
